About the Role
Join St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital Day Surgery Centre as a Theatre Orderly, working either part time or full time at their Spring Hill location. This role is pivotal to supporting perioperative services in a modern, patient-centric surgical facility. The position offers a remuneration rate of $29.89 per hour plus superannuation, with additional not-for-profit salary packaging and applicable penalty and allowance payments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the safe transfer, positioning, and mobilisation of patients within the Day Surgery Centre.
- Provide transportation support for patients throughout the facility.
- Prepare and relocate theatre equipment ahead of procedures.
- Ensure the environment is clean, safe, and well-organised at all times.
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control protocols.
- Offer assistance to clinical teams with patient-related tasks as needed.
- Apply safe manual handling techniques using mechanical aids when required.
- Contribute to enhancing patient experience by delivering excellent customer service and collaborating effectively with team members.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience as an Orderly, Patient Support Assistant, or in a hospital environment is essential.
- Experience in theatre or perioperative settings is highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication and customer service capabilities.
- Strong dedication to patient safety and ensuring high standards of care.
- Ability to function well within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Proactive, reliable, and maintains a positive attitude.
- Physical fitness to manage manual handling requirements safely.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts covering the operational hours of the Day Surgery Centre.
- Must have Australian work rights; sponsorship is not provided.
