Position Summary

The Contamination Control & ESD Technician plays a key role in preserving the semiconductor manufacturing environment by ensuring cleanroom conditions and electrostatic discharge prevention align with rigorous factory and industry standards. This individual performs environmental monitoring tasks, conducts ESD compliance audits, aids in qualification processes, and supports investigations into contamination or ESD incidents. Collaborating across engineering and operational teams, this role maintains a stable and compliant production atmosphere, crucial for product quality, equipment longevity, and operational success.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine monitoring inside cleanrooms, including airborne particle assessment, air microbiological contamination sampling, metal contamination analysis, and logging environmental data.
• Perform ESD compliance assessments such as wrist strap and footwear testing, grounding checks on equipment, audits of workstations, and resistance verification.
• Assist with qualification of new tools, parts, and consumables by verifying contamination and ESD standards prior to production use.
• Support investigations into contamination or ESD excursions by collecting samples, gathering relevant data, conducting preliminary tests, and accurate documentation.
• Carry out scheduled preventive upkeep and calibration of environmental and ESD monitoring devices to maintain consistent functionality.
• Keep thorough documentation and records to enable traceability and satisfy audit requirements.
• Ensure cleanroom protocols including proper gowning, material handling, housekeeping, and contamination control are observed.
• Promptly report and escalate any abnormal contamination or ESD risks observed to appropriate engineering or supervisory personnel.
• Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Equipment, Facilities, and Engineering departments to support fab operations and uphold compliance standards.
• Adhere strictly to environmental health and safety, cleanroom, and corporate safety guidelines, while maintaining a disciplined work environment.
• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives by proposing enhancements to contamination and ESD control processes.

Candidate Requirements

• Certification such as Nitec, Higher Nitec, or Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Chemical Process, or related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience in semiconductor or manufacturing settings is acceptable.
• Ability to work within a semiconductor cleanroom environment following required gowning, contamination control, and safety protocols.
• Detail-oriented with the aptitude to follow and accurately complete standard operating procedures.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills conducive to effective teamwork across multiple functions.
• Capable of thriving in a fast-moving semiconductor fabrication environment with evolving priorities.
• Eagerness to learn, adapt, and assume responsibility for tasks with a positive and collaborative attitude.
• Experience operating environmental monitoring or ESD testing equipment is advantageous.
• Willingness and capacity to work 12-hour rotating shifts including nights.
