Job Overview
This position involves following direct supervision to carry out routine laboratory tasks related to Microbiology Testing Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct various microbiology lab activities, including reagent and media preparation, enhancing media growth, and applying aseptic techniques within a biological safety cabinet.
- Perform regular lab upkeep, such as cleaning instruments, replenishing supplies, and disposing of waste safely.
- Obtain certification for cleanroom gowning as required.
- Complete training assigned by supervisors or managers on executing assays and environmental monitoring tasks.
- Environmental Monitoring duties include equipment upkeep and scheduling repairs; conducting static and dynamic Environmental Monitoring and updating the Environmental Monitoring database; preparing samples and environmental or personnel isolates for microbial identification; maintaining the Microbial Identification database.
- Sterile Services duties involve performing bioburden and bioburden verification tests using pour plate and membrane filtration methods; conducting bacteriostasis and fungistasis tests; sterility tests; mycobacterium testing; and bacteriophage testing.
- Mycoplasma Testing duties include performing cultivable and non-cultivable mycoplasma testing following standard compendia, and carrying out mycoplasmastasis (inhibitory) testing.
- Document all laboratory activities accurately in notebooks, batch records, and forms complying with Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: 0-1 year in a biological laboratory setting preferred.
- Certifications: None required.
- Preferred Knowledge: Familiarity with cGMPs and regulatory frameworks in pharmaceutical and biological industries is advantageous.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities for teamwork and individual interactions; basic proficiency in Microsoft Office is helpful.
Compensation
The hourly pay rate is $24.70, with variations depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
