About the Role
This opportunity is offered on behalf of a partner company headquartered in Ireland, specializing in a global, remote-first work culture. The Technical Writer will be instrumental in defining how developers and technical users engage with sophisticated software platforms. You will take charge of documentation for critical product areas while collaborating with engineering, product, and design teams to deliver content that is clear, precise, and impactful. The role involves a mix of technical knowledge, content strategy, and product teamwork focused on enhancing user experience and facilitating the adoption of advanced technologies. Additionally, you will contribute to refining documentation processes and infrastructure, influencing how teams develop and utilize modern software solutions.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage documentation for assigned product domains, acting as the primary technical writing collaborator with product teams.
- Work closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to comprehend product changes ensuring documentation is up-to-date and aligned with releases.
- Develop a deep understanding of product functionalities by hands-on testing and crafting user-centric documentation.
- Lead documentation projects from initial planning through writing, review, publishing, and ongoing upkeep.
- Promote user-centered documentation, integrating customer viewpoints into product dialogues.
- Constantly enhance documentation organization, clarity, and coverage using analytics, feedback, and internal inputs.
- Collaborate with fellow technical writers and documentation experts to exchange best practices and raise standards.
- Support the maintenance and development of documentation infrastructure such as build tools, deployment workflows, and platforms.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in technical writing with a strong portfolio showcasing developer-focused documentation like user guides, API references, tutorials, and technical articles.
- Proven ability to understand, test, and document complex software products and technical ecosystems.
- Hands-on familiarity with technologies such as Java, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and associated developer tools.
- Experienced in writing documentation for SaaS, on-premise software, or enterprise-level technology solutions.
- Skilled in adapting content to target various audiences, including software engineers, developers, business analysts, and other technical stakeholders.
- Well-versed in docs-as-code methodologies, including Git, Markdown, AI-assisted content creation, and frameworks like Docusaurus.
- Willingness to actively use the products you document to inform and improve content accuracy.
- Experience in maintaining documentation platforms, deployment pipelines, or technical infrastructures is a plus.
- Background in software engineering or programming language proficiency is advantageous.
- Ability to contribute to enhancing technical writing standards and style guidelines across teams.
