Staff Engineer

Overview

This senior leadership role as a Staff Engineer places you at the helm of technical strategy and execution at Ahoy. Based in Dublin with hybrid working arrangements, you will guide the design, development, and evolution of the foundational platforms including event pipelines, agent orchestration, and the CRM data model.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and ownership of critical system components managing data flow, agent reasoning, and customer decision feedback loops.
• Establish and enforce the right abstractions while balancing speed and quality, pushing back where necessary.
• Provide technical mentorship through design and code reviews and pairing, promoting team growth without becoming a bottleneck.
• Collaborate closely with company founders to define engineering roadmaps and with go-to-market teams to align development with customer needs.
• Play a pivotal role in recruiting new engineering talent, setting a high performance standard.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of 8 years experience delivering production-ready software, including prior roles as Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or Technical Lead.
• Proven leadership in architecting large-scale systems that have been successfully implemented and operated.
• Expertise in at least one of these core areas: backend distributed systems, AI and large language models, or data infrastructure.
• Composed and effective under pressure, enhancing both technical systems and team performance.
• Available to work in Dublin with a hybrid schedule requiring several onsite days weekly.

Desirable Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with large language model agent systems including orchestration, retrieval, evaluations, and performance tuning related to costs and latency.
• Background in building CRM, sales technology, or pipeline management platforms.
• Demonstrated thought leadership through open-source contributions, technical writing, or public speaking reflecting system design reasoning.
