Job description

Role Overview

The Specialist Sales Representative is responsible for actively managing a designated sales territory, cultivating key customer relationships, supporting marketing initiatives, and identifying customer trends to meet or surpass territory sales goals. This role primarily targets specialties such as Rheumatology within the territory, with a secondary emphasis on pharmacy channels to drive product sales. Additionally, there will be a growing focus on Paediatrics to assist with a new product launch in the area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage directly with healthcare professionals (HCPs), clinical nurses, and nurse practitioners in major hospitals through face-to-face visits, departmental meetings, and multidisciplinary team discussions to provide education and increase awareness on diseases and products.
  • Develop and update quarterly a comprehensive annual strategic action plan for assigned products within the territory.
  • Identify and establish connections with key opinion leaders (KOLs) to foster advocacy.
  • Support pharmacy channels as a secondary focus to aid successful product sales.
  • Promptly address customer requests and uphold commitments.
  • Achieve or exceed agreed outreach and frequency benchmarks with key HCPs.
  • Track and monitor financial metrics including monthly sales and expenses.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge in therapy areas to formulate effective strategies and support future sales activities.
  • Use advanced technical expertise and sales techniques to instill confidence in the brand and company link.
  • Participate in relevant national trade events and territory-specific functions.
  • Attend applicable local and international congresses to back the company's business interests.

Data Analytics, Budget and Reporting

  • Meet or exceed sales growth targets and budgeted revenue goals.
  • Forecast sales in collaboration with management and monitor progress against targets by sales territory.
  • Operate within the allocated territorial budget, carefully tracking expenditures and reporting against budget.
  • Analyze market data to identify trends and opportunities jointly with management.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM)

  • Build and nurture professional relationships with relevant customers across the territory.
  • Ensure field activities meet reach and frequency goals.
  • Maintain accurate customer profiles and details within the Veeva CRM system promptly.
  • Utilize CRM for customer profiling, segmentation, and preparation of pre-call and post-call plans.

Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate within cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.
  • Work alongside commercial teams to organize events, meetings, communications, and presentations.
  • Share market insights and best practices with colleagues and management.
  • Engage openly and honestly with internal Link staff.
  • Contribute to strong interdepartmental relationships with Finance, Customer Service, Regulatory, Quality, Medical, and Distribution teams to support execution of objectives.

Knowledge and Compliance

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of company policies, Medicines Australia Code of Conduct, competitor products, and therapeutic areas.
  • Attend industry conferences to expand expertise and share findings with the team.
  • Understand challenges faced by HCPs prescribing company products to enhance interactions.
  • Comply with pharmaco-vigilance procedures by promptly reporting adverse reactions related to company products.
  • Keep current with industry trends, regulations, publications, and clinical data through formal and self-driven learning.
  • Adhere to company standard operating procedures and policies.
  • Promote a culture of quality and safety, ensuring compliance with GXP regulations and relevant legal and ethical standards.

Administration

  • Complete administrative duties such as monthly reports, expense submissions, and call reporting within deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation and filing.
  • Participate in internal meetings as required.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with staff and management using appropriate channels.

Requirements

  • Previous sales experience in Rheumatology, Dermatology, or Paediatrics is highly preferred.
  • A tertiary qualification in science, health, or business disciplines.
  • Completion of Medicines Australia Continuing Education Program.
  • Proven ability in stakeholder engagement and relationship development.
  • Demonstrated success in business planning and sales achievement.
  • Experience as a Hospital Specialist Representative or Key Account Manager with a focus on specialty medicines.
  • Strong organizational skills combined with the capability to work independently and self-motivate.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
