Specialist MSK Physiotherapist

Opportunity Overview

We are seeking a skilled and driven physiotherapist to join our growing musculoskeletal (MSK) team at Barts Health NHS Trust. The successful candidate will provide excellent clinical leadership and contribute to achieving departmental goals and service enhancements. This position involves rotation between primary and secondary care settings.

Team Environment

This role forms part of a comprehensive MSK department comprising Band 5 to Band 7 physiotherapists, advanced practitioners, and consultants working across various care levels.

Core Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload of referrals from both primary and secondary care, delivering high quality patient-centered musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
• Support junior staff development and participate actively in educational initiatives and service innovation.
• Lead clinical teams and help oversee service improvements and development projects.
• Provide autonomous assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and appropriate discharge decisions for acute, sub-acute, and chronic MSK and pain conditions, including hand therapy and rheumatology patients.
• Supervise, mentor, appraise and advise therapy and support staff, as well as coordinate student placements and assist clinical educators, including educating therapy students up to postgraduate levels with Extended Scope Practitioner support.

Professional Development

The service offers a robust in-service training program and encourages postgraduate study among all MSK team members. There are collaborative opportunities with QMUL Sports Medicine Department staff involving research and service improvement projects.
