About the Role

AWS manages one of the globe's largest and most reliable networks, which expands swiftly in both scale and complexity due to growing customer needs. Our customers rely on these networks to run pivotal workloads continuously without interruption. The Network Monitoring and Remediation (NMR) team is tasked with anticipating, detecting, preventing, and resolving issues across both physical and logical network layers before they can affect customers. We develop software that processes trillions of telemetry data points daily from millions of devices utilizing advanced big data analytics, including machine learning and AI, to convert this data into actionable alerts. These alerts feed into our event management system for automated resolution processes. For issues not yet automated, specialized diagnostic tools assist operators in swift problem analysis and remediation decisions. Our ultimate goal is to automatically and proactively address any network failure without human intervention.

The AWS Infrastructure Services team designs, plans, delivers, and operates all AWS's worldwide infrastructure, supporting data centers and all critical hardware components that ensure uninterrupted service and innovation capacity. This team tackles complex challenges involving thousands of variables affecting the network.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and recruit a top-tier software development team.
Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of highly distributed, large-scale service systems.
Lead complex, multi-team, and cross-functional projects.
Engage actively in hiring and fostering career growth for team members and others within the organization.
Collaborate closely with senior leadership on business planning, resource allocation, and setting targets.
Set strategic technical and business goals with a long-term outlook.
Apply strong creativity and sound judgment for key decisions.

Stay updated on current technology and industry trends.

Team and Culture

You will work with a diverse group including software, hardware, and network engineers, security experts, operations managers, and supply chain professionals. This role emphasizes delivering superior safety, security, and scalable capacity cost-effectively while fostering a culture that welcomes innovation and ownership.

Basic Qualifications

Strong knowledge of software, hardware, and network engineering practices through all development lifecycle phases, including coding standards, reviews, source control, building, testing, certification, and operational support.
Proven experience managing engineering teams.
Background in software engineering roles.
Experience leading design and development of multi-tier web services.
Collaborative experience with product and program management teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Effective communicator with the ability to gather requirements and articulate product features, technical designs, and strategies to users, technical teams, and senior leaders.
Experienced in recruiting, mentoring, coaching, and managing software engineering teams to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
