Software Developer IV (Golang)

Role Overview

As a Software Developer IV at Rackspace Technology, you will be instrumental in shaping and advancing the core RackAI platform and related services. This role involves developing cloud-native applications, Kubernetes automation, and AI-oriented platform capabilities that power our next-generation solutions. You will steer architectural decisions, champion engineering standards, mentor junior developers, and actively collaborate across various teams including Product, Security, and Operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable backend services using Go (Golang).
• Develop and maintain Kubernetes-native applications such as operators and controllers.
• Define and evolve platform architecture for scalability, security, and operational excellence.
• Create APIs, automation frameworks, and platform tools to enable AI-driven functionalities.
• Implement cloud-native best practices focusing on observability, resilience, and operational preparedness.
• Set coding standards, architectural patterns, and engineering guidelines within the teams.
• Lead technical design discussions and cross-team software development initiatives.
• Mentor and foster growth among software developers across levels I to III.
• Drive adoption of secure software development and modern engineering methodologies.
• Design and optimize Kubernetes deployments across environments while automating provisioning, deployment, scaling, and lifecycle management.
• Partner with platform engineering to enhance developer productivity and platform stability.
• Ensure all solutions comply with security, compliance, and operational policies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders including Product Managers, Architects, Data Scientists, SREs, and Security teams to translate business needs into robust technical solutions.
• Contribute to product roadmap and long-term evolution of the RackAI platform.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience (10+ years) in software development, with minimum 5 years specializing in Go (Golang) development.
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes architecture, operations, and application development, including building operators or controllers using relevant toolkits.
• Proven background in designing distributed systems and microservices with strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency with containerization (Docker, OCI runtimes), CI/CD pipelines, DevOps workflows, and Git-based version control.
• Solid grasp of software design patterns, secure coding principles, and application security best practices.
• Experience leading complex technical projects end-to-end and mentoring engineering teams.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with AI/ML platform development or AI-enabled enterprise products.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Insights into service mesh technologies and platform engineering concepts.
• Experience with observability tools like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Understanding of vector databases, large language model integration, RAG architectures, or AI infrastructure.
• Contribution to open-source software projects.
