Social Care Worker - Part-Time - Wicklow

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support focused on the unique needs of each resident.
• Encourage and enhance residents’ independence, wellbeing, and participation in society.
• Assist residents in accessing healthcare, education, employment, training, and community-based services.
• Take part in assessments, develop support plans, and conduct regular reviews.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with residents, colleagues, and external agencies.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to any safeguarding issues.
• Keep detailed, confidential records compliant with GDPR and professional guidelines.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and ongoing care coordination.
• Help residents understand their rights and connect them with suitable resources.
• Promote a safe, positive, and supportive living environment.
• Engage in mandatory training, supervision, and continual professional growth.

Requirements

• Registration with CORU as a Social Care Worker or eligibility with an active application process.
• A CORU-recognized social care qualification.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding laws and best professional practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organizational skills with the ability to produce thorough reports.
• Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Possession of a full clean driving licence.
• Willingness to engage in an on-call rota when needed.

Preferred Experience

• Background in supporting individuals seeking international protection or refugees.
• Experience in residential or community social care settings.
• Skills in advocacy, case management, and person-centred planning.
• Comfort working within multicultural environments.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices.

Working Hours

• Approximately 20 hours weekly, with flexibility.
• Shifts scheduled between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
• One weekend in every four, daytime shift only from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
• Participation in out-of-hours on-call duty is required.
