Job Overview
The Senior Operator DHT is responsible for operating, monitoring, and controlling assigned plant units to process, store, and export products according to specifications, while adhering to Company and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards. This role involves managing control panels to ensure product quality and quantity targets are met, optimizing plant efficiency and safety.
Operational Responsibilities
- Perform assigned operational tasks safely and in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Document operational incidents and review them with supervisors to enhance unit performance.
- Supervise or conduct routine equipment inspections to identify issues and coordinate servicing and repairs.
- Prepare and verify plant and equipment readiness for maintenance to maintain accurate and synchronized operations.
- Operate machinery and equipment efficiently and safely, following company protocols.
- Serve as Auxiliary Fireman or Site Safety Officer during emergencies according to the Facility Response Plan.
- Authorize work permits, monitor ongoing work, and oversee contractors to ensure adherence to safety regulations.
- Maximize use of the Integrated Control System’s capabilities to improve plant efficiency, product quality, and safety.
- Adjust operational parameters such as speeds, temperatures, pressures, and flow rates during startups, shutdowns, and emergencies.
- Continuously monitor control panels, diagnose abnormal conditions, initiate necessary adjustments, and monitor instrument readings to keep equipment within specified limits.
- Ensure correct chemical types are used, prepare solutions, control dosing rates, and follow all HSE procedures.
Safety and Integrity
- Manage the assigned area safely to achieve plant yield goals without hydrocarbon loss and within emission limits, ensuring smooth shift handovers.
- Complete integrity tests, changeover routines, and other verification tasks, maintaining proper records and documentation.
- Control plant upsets to prevent escalation, maintaining clear communication with other departments, company sites, and neighboring plants.
Policies, Training, and Continuous Improvement
- Implement and comply with all relevant policies, procedures, systems, and standards to meet operational goals.
- Deliver on-the-job training aligned with Competency Based Training programs, supporting UAE Nationalization initiatives.
- Contribute to identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in operating procedures and processes.
Health, Safety, Environment, and Housekeeping
- Adhere to HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable laws, sustainability guidelines, and ADNOC Codes of Practice.
- Participate actively in Emergency Response team duties when required.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment according to hygiene and housekeeping standards.
Reporting and Communication
- Provide inputs for section progress reports for company management.
- Prepare Key Performance Indicator (KPI) checklists for management oversight.
- Engage in internal communication with line managers, peers, and other employees.
- Coordinate externally with consultants, third-party service providers, and government agencies as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Hold a Technical Diploma in a relevant field or an equivalent Secondary School Certificate with vocational trade certification.
- Possess at least 6 years of experience in plant operations within a large industrial setting, preferably in the Oil and Gas sector.
Working Conditions
- Minimal physical effort is required.
- Work is based in air-conditioned environments; occasional site visits may expose the employee to heat, humidity, and dust.
