Role Description

The Senior Hardware Engineer will engage collaboratively with leading engineers and clients to design, develop, and realize novel hardware solutions possibly unprecedented in the market. This position requires involvement at the system level as well as detailed electronic design to actualize concepts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and validate electrical hardware integrated with complex mechanical parts for both low volume and mass production scenarios.
  • Lead, mentor, and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams through research, ideation, prototyping, testing, analysis, documentation, and client presentations, fostering project success and business growth.
  • Offer insights on promising technology directions and support new business development to align with client objectives.
  • Implement design modifications aimed at boosting product reliability, cost efficiency, and performance while adhering to regulatory and safety standards.
  • Conduct prototyping, debugging, and detailed analysis using standard laboratory equipment and techniques.
  • Perform schematic capture, printed circuit board layout, design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews, and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) for products intended for mass production, utilizing tools such as Altium, KiCAD, and LTspice.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of design iterations, test results, and validation procedures.
  • Support manufacturing and supply chain aspects through collaboration with part manufacturers and contract manufacturers, managing suppliers, developing functional testing protocols, and guiding automated electrical test platform designs.
  • Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally to interact with partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.

Required Skills and Experience

  • B.Tech in Electrical Engineering required; M.Tech preferred, with 8 to 12 years of professional experience in complex, technical, integrated product development.
  • Proven track record of delivering at least three products from concept to mass production, including a minimum of one product exceeding 10,000 units per year in volume.
  • Expertise with schematic and PCB design for RF, digital, and analog circuits on multilayer boards (8+ layers).
  • Proficiency in solving complex issues in at least three areas from analog design, high-speed digital design, power electronics, wireless power transfer, RF design, antennas, motor control, and instrumentation. Mastery in some domains is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing processes and validations such as FAI and PPAP, alongside knowledge of reliability testing methods including HALT and HASS.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience involving micro-soldering (0201, QFN, BGA) and the use of diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, source-measure units, impedance analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Comprehensive experience throughout the product lifecycle from conceptualization to product launch (NPI).
  • Experience in managing overseas vendors including component suppliers, contract manufacturers, OEMs, and JDMs.
  • Excellent communication abilities to explain complex engineering ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, a proactive approach to hands-on problem solving, and enthusiasm for self-directed learning.

Preferred but Not Mandatory

  • Background in designing and manufacturing high-reliability consumer, medical, or wearable products at very high volumes (100,000+ units per year), ideally involving integrated biomedical sensors such as ECG, PPG, SpO2, GSR, BIA, or similar.
  • Experience managing products with international supply chains.
  • Familiarity with test automation frameworks and programming experience with Python, MATLAB, LabView or equivalent.
  • Expertise in hardware testing and debugging including software interface integration.
  • Knowledge of regulatory testing protocols for medical or consumer electronic devices.
