Role overview
AtkinsRéalis is hiring a seasoned Senior Electrical Engineer to support mission-critical data center projects in Doha. The position focuses on supervising, coordinating, testing, and commissioning electrical systems, with a strong emphasis on reliable delivery of HV/LV power infrastructure, backup power arrangements, and electrical distribution networks in line with project requirements and industry standards.
What you will do
- Lead electrical site works for data center projects and make sure construction aligns with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and contractual requirements.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of high- and low-voltage systems, transformers, switchgear, and power distribution equipment.
- Track the setup and performance of backup power arrangements such as generators, fuel systems, UPS units, batteries, and related control systems.
- Check shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, and other technical documents to confirm they meet project expectations.
- Work closely with mechanical, civil, structural, architectural, ICT, and vendor teams to keep all interfaces coordinated.
- Carry out inspections and quality checks to confirm workmanship, installation quality, and material compliance.
- Supervise earthing, bonding, and lightning protection installations and testing.
- Monitor cabling routes, containment systems, power distribution networks, and final equipment connections.
- Witness FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, and performance tests, and verify energization readiness and safe execution.
- Support integrated systems testing, commissioning, and operational readiness for mission-critical facilities.
- Spot and help resolve design, construction, and interface issues with project stakeholders.
- Ensure the contractor follows quality standards, safety requirements, and schedule commitments.
- Review inspection requests, test records, commissioning documents, and QA/QC submissions.
- Track contractor progress, manpower use, and productivity, and escalate risks with corrective actions where needed.
- Take part in coordination meetings and provide technical input on electrical matters.
- Assist with authority inspections, client witnessing, snagging, and final handover activities.
- Prepare technical reports, progress notes, NCRs, and project status updates for client and consultant leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
- UPDA/MMUP Grade A certification is mandatory.
- At least 12 years of professional experience is required.
- Data center project experience is compulsory, with at least one delivered project completed within the last 5 years.
- Strong background in HV/LV systems, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, earthing, lightning protection, power distribution, testing, energization, and commissioning.
- Experience in data center or other mission-critical power environments is preferred.
