Position Overview
Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, invites applications for the role of Senior Data Science Analyst within the Information Technology department. Responsibilities
The role requires residence within 100 miles of the campus or willingness to relocate. The Senior Data Science Analyst will conduct in-depth analyses of diverse healthcare data sets to uncover patterns and insights that enhance patient outcomes and extend human capabilities. Candidates should demonstrate advanced skills in AI, machine learning, deep learning, statistical analysis, regression, neural networks, clustering, pattern recognition, probability theory, and data science methodologies. Knowledge of healthcare data structures, scientific challenges, and analytic approaches is essential.
This position collaborates closely with knowledge architects, informaticians, clinicians, and external partners to develop and deploy AI-driven analytic solutions, often targeted at the point of care. The role involves modifying existing scripts or software to facilitate data management, extraction, analysis, and AI applications.
The analyst will also build predictive models from large-scale data sets to solve diverse business problems using advanced statistical modeling, operations research, machine learning, or data mining techniques. Consultation services to Mayo departments and participation in scientific projects under senior supervision are expected.
Additional Duties
- Deliver advanced analytical insights for complex business challenges using structured and unstructured data.
- Employ sophisticated data analysis methods and AI/machine learning to develop analytic tools and predictive models.
- Engage with stakeholders to identify requirements and outcomes during discovery phases.
- Lead data interpretation efforts and prepare detailed reports.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, health science, or related fields along with at least 12 graduate credit hours in domain-relevant sciences or seven years of professional experience in data science and AI is required.
Preferred candidates hold a Master’s or PhD in relevant disciplines with a minimum of one year’s professional or research experience in data science.
Applicants must possess strong technical expertise and business acumen, leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in scientific computing and data management tools. Demonstrated project management, initiative in education and software development, and ability to handle multiple priorities are essential. Experience in predictive and prescriptive modeling at scale, consultative services, application of problem-solving methodologies, and a commitment to customer service are required.

Work Schedule & Location
This full-time position operates standard business hours, Monday through Friday, with weekend work based on business needs. Candidates must be onsite in Rochester, MN.
