About the Role

Arcadis invites applications for a Senior Contracts Manager to lead the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects in the Kildare region. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will oversee the safe and efficient execution of Design-Build and DBOM contracts, ensuring projects meet quality, budgetary, and schedule targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams including engineering, commercial, construction, commissioning, and operations to deliver multiple projects concurrently while fostering a unified team culture.
  • Ensure strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental policies on-site and promote a proactive safety mindset across teams.
  • Engage and coordinate with regulatory and environmental agencies such as IFI, NPWS, HSA, EPA, and OPW.

  • Perform regular health and safety inspections and support clients during audits.
  • Oversee testing and quality assurance processes including FAT, SAT, inspections, pipe pressure, hydrostatic tank testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Apply advanced program management methodologies including Lean Construction and Last Planner to plan, track, and adjust project schedules for milestone achievement.
  • Identify and mitigate program risks by adjusting construction methods or advancing tasks.
  • Manage project delivery teams by delegating tasks and providing coaching to engineers and graduates.
  • Lead recruitment and mentorship of site teams as needed.
  • Supervise suppliers and subcontractor scopes to align with program requirements and resource projects effectively.
  • Control project cashflow ensuring timely submission of interim payment claims.

  • Anticipate risks and manage opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare monthly commercial reports summarizing income, costs, work-in-progress, and accruals by project.
  • Provide support and guidance during tendering phases as necessary.
  • Ensure positive client relationships promoting collaboration and cooperation.
  • Serve as the primary contractor representative to clients and stakeholders, maintaining confidence through effective delivery.
  • Address client and stakeholder complaints promptly and collect feedback to improve satisfaction.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned and innovative ideas for future projects.

Candidate Profile

  • A relevant degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields.
  • Chartered Engineer accreditation or comparable senior professional experience.
  • At least 10 years' experience within the water and wastewater sector, specifically in managing Design-Build, EPC, or DBOM contracts.
  • Proven leadership of large, complex, multidisciplinary projects and teams.
  • Comprehensive understanding of water treatment, wastewater processes, MEICA systems, construction, and commissioning operations.
  • Strong commercial and contract management skills with responsibility for project profitability.
  • In-depth knowledge of Irish, UK, and European statutes, regulations, standards, and best industry practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships and navigate complex stakeholder environments successfully.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and team management competencies.
  • Experience deploying innovative engineering solutions, operational enhancements, and research and development projects.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and competing priorities without compromising safety, quality, or client satisfaction.
