Role overview
Equator Therapeutics is hiring a scientist to support research into how small molecules influence proton movement across the inner mitochondrial membrane, along with their effects on mitochondrial and cellular respiration and overall cell survival. The role is suited to an independent, collaborative researcher with a background in electrophysiology, mitochondrial biology, or biochemistry.
What you will work on
- Study the impact of small molecules on proton permeability in the inner mitochondrial membrane.
- Evaluate mitochondrial respiration, cellular respiration, and cell viability responses.
- Build expertise in fluorescence-based high-throughput assays using isolated mitochondria.
- Run cellular and mitochondrial respiration experiments as part of the platform.
- Carry out cell toxicity testing and, where applicable, mitochondrial patch-clamp electrophysiology.
Candidate background
This is a scientist-level opportunity with title and pay aligned to experience. The company is looking for someone with a PhD, a strong track record of publications, and preferably postdoctoral training. Hands-on experience in patch-clamp electrophysiology or mitochondrial bioenergetics is a strong advantage, though not mandatory.
About the company
Equator Therapeutics is a biotechnology company at the late preclinical stage, focused on developing first-in-class activators of mitochondrial thermogenic pathways for obesity and related metabolic conditions. The company emphasizes a collaborative, supportive setting designed to encourage scientific and professional development.
Location
The role is available on-site in either St. Louis, Missouri, or Los Angeles, California.
