Role overview
The school is looking for a Science Laboratory Assistant to support day-to-day laboratory operations at Yishun Town Secondary School in Singapore. This is a full-time contract role running from 1 August 2026 to 31 December 2028.
Work location and schedule
Work will be based at 6 Yishun Street 21, Singapore 768610. The role follows a Monday to Friday schedule from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break included.
There is no work on Saturdays, Sundays, Singapore Public Holidays, or during the full months of June and December each year, when the school is closed for holidays.
Key duties
You will help prepare science laboratories for everyday practical lessons and practical examinations, including arranging apparatus, glassware, chemicals, safety goggles, and other teaching aids.
The job also involves measuring and dispensing chemicals, preparing laboratory reagents, cleaning and storing equipment after sessions, washing glassware, and disposing of chemicals safely in line with required procedures.
You will also top up bench reagents before each school term, assist with inventory and lab organization, and carry out other tasks assigned by the Science Laboratory Technician.
Requirements
Applicants should have at least a primary school qualification or an equivalent level of education.
A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a science laboratory is required. Experience gained between 1 January 2022 and the application closing date will be accepted for this requirement.
Candidates should understand basic science laboratory operations and have a working knowledge of chemical preparation and handling.
The preferred candidate is someone with a positive attitude, willingness to learn, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
You should be proactive, dependable, well organized, safety-conscious when handling laboratory materials, and comfortable keeping laboratory spaces clean and orderly.
Preferred experience
It will be an advantage to have experience supporting school science laboratories, following laboratory safety procedures, and working with laboratory chemicals and equipment.
