Role Overview
Serve as the chief financial officer for a highly visible boarding school in Uganda, overseeing the entire bursar's office operations. This role entails managing the school’s financial inflows, payroll, vendor payments, and comprehensive financial reporting for governance and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete termly fee collection process, from invoicing parents to final reconciliation of payments.
- Administer payroll processing for approximately 180 staff members, including teaching and non-teaching personnel.
- Liaise with financial platforms such as SchoolPay, mobile money services, and banking institutions to manage treasury and payment operations.
- Prepare detailed termly management accounts to present to the Board of Governors, including a comprehensive report for the Annual Founders' Day.
- Lead all interactions and coordination related to the annual external audit process.
Requirements
- Possession of a valid ACCA, CPA(U), or an equivalent professional qualification in accounting.
- Minimum of five years in a senior financial leadership role within an educational institution or a large NGO.
- Proven experience using SchoolPay or similar fee collection software systems.
- Strong practical understanding of Ugandan tax systems, specifically PAYE, National Social Security Fund (NSSF), and local council tax regulations.
