About RNLI and the Role
RNLI's mission is to save lives at sea around the clock. We are seeking a Regional Maintenance Planner to join our Lifesaving Operations team based primarily at the Regional Support Centre in Swords, County Dublin. This hybrid position plays a crucial role in efficiently coordinating and overseeing maintenance tasks across the region to ensure lifeboats, launch and recovery equipment, station assets, and lifeguard gear remain fully operational and safe.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule preventive, corrective, and upgrade maintenance activities using RNLI's Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to guarantee effective use of personnel, equipment, and resources.
- Coordinate deployment of technical staff and contractors to optimize maintenance delivery throughout the region.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, schedules, and asset details within RNLI’s business systems.
- Support stock management, inventory control across remote technical stores and warehouses.
- Manage logistics related to the receipt, dispatch, and return of parts and technical supplies.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and support teams to enhance data quality, reporting accuracy, and overall maintenance planning performance.
- Assist with purchasing, supplier coordination, and budget management aligned with RNLI procedures.
- Participate in key performance indicator reporting and initiatives aimed at continuous improvement of maintenance systems.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a meticulous planner with excellent administrative and IT competencies, capable of handling multiple priorities and communication across diverse stakeholders. They should be adept at working autonomously and within a team environment.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of Irish Leaving Certificate / QQI Level 5, UK A-Level, Engineering BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent relevant experience.
- Background in engineering, maintenance, logistics, or operational environments.
- Proven experience in planning, scheduling, and coordinating resources, personnel, and operational projects.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for planning, reporting, and data management.
- Experience with computerised maintenance management systems and business systems for maintenance planning and monitoring.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and maintain detailed accuracy.
Desirable Skills and Knowledge
- Experience in supporting engineering maintenance planning, field service, or asset management.
- Familiarity with inventory, stores, or warehouse management.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics or comparable ERP systems.
- Capability in generating reports, analyzing operational data, and supporting performance management.
