Role Overview
The Quality Engineer will be integrated within Tesla's Fremont Quality Engineering team, aiming to enhance the production process and ensure top-standard electric vehicles. The role requires an individual with strong problem-solving skills, a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, and a passion for ongoing professional and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary teams to identify and solve process and product issues through quality assurance methods such as root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain quality metrics to gauge performance effectively.
- Create and apply quality standards aligned with Tesla's overall Quality System, ensuring end products fulfill customer expectations.
- Assist in defining product specifications and tolerances, conducting Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), and Design Verification Activities (DVAs).
- Develop and enforce control plans and inspection benchmarks targeting critical features throughout assembly and production stages.
- Manage the assessment and disposition of nonconforming materials to maintain product quality.
- Ensure workplace organization and cleanliness by following daily housekeeping and 5S protocols.
- Cultivate and support a continuous improvement culture focused on efficiency, safety, and workforce satisfaction.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on knowledge of quality systems within manufacturing, preferably in automotive sectors.
- Proficiency with quality problem-solving tools including fishbone diagrams, FMEA, process capability analyses, hypothesis testing, design of experiments (DoE), and statistical process control (SPC).
- Experience utilizing diverse measurement and inspection methods.
- Strong communication skills in oral, written, and presentation formats.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adhere to strict deadlines.
Compensation and Benefits
