Production Designer

Position Overview

We are seeking a Production Designer to join a Fortune 100 Food & Beverage manufacturing company located in St. Louis, MO. This role is initially contracted for 12 months with a likelihood of extension. The work schedule is Monday through Thursday on-site with Friday remote work permitted. The workplace is pet-friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere for animal lovers.

Responsibilities

• Create digital files for printing with precision and timeliness, ensuring all work meets quality and legal standards.
• Use trademarks and logos correctly while adhering to regulatory and AFFCO/NASC quality standards.
• Apply excellent typography by managing hyphenation, kerning, line breaks, and legibility, maintaining accurate size specifications.
• Send all projects to Proofreaders before group presentations to ensure error-free outputs.
• Construct digital files efficiently, conserving memory and ensuring accuracy.
• Collaborate effectively with the creative team, project managers, and senior production designers while managing tasks independently with a proactive problem-solving mindset.
• Prioritize workloads, track time investment accurately, and notify project managers if deadlines are at risk.
• Develop design variations based on core artwork as required.

Qualifications and Skills

• A minimum of five years experience in Mac-based digital production environments.
• Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
• Familiarity with Sketch and Keynote is advantageous.
• Experience working with packaging die-vinyls is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of Mac OS and digital file management practices, including archiving and selecting appropriate Illustrator versions for different projects.
• Ability to color-correct and retouch images using Photoshop.
• Understanding of color and pre-press requirements for flexographic and offset printing processes.
• Competency in using advanced keyboard shortcuts, paragraph formatting, typography, style sheets, and tab fields within design software.
• Strong troubleshooting skills involving system issues, data recovery, and network management.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and positive, energetic demeanor to collaborate effectively with others.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly pay up to $56.70 plus eligibility for overtime.
