About the Company
Our client is a leading electrical contractor based in Cork, Ireland, known for managing complex electrical and M&E projects across commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical, life sciences, and infrastructure sectors. Experiencing considerable growth, the company is expanding its procurement leadership team.
Role Overview
This permanent, full-time position is a pivotal management role reporting to senior leadership. The successful candidate will oversee the complete procurement function, ensuring timely and cost-efficient acquisition of materials, plant, and subcontractor services across multiple projects while enhancing supplier performance and operational efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct all procurement activities across various projects and departments.
- Create and execute procurement strategies in line with corporate objectives.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing structures, and supplier agreements.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities and streamline supply chain processes.
- Manage supplier selection, onboarding, and ongoing performance reviews.
- Foster strong, enduring relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Track market trends, pricing changes, and supply chain risk factors.
- Collaborate closely with project management, commercial teams, and site management to fulfill procurement needs.
- Ensure prompt procurement and delivery of electrical materials, equipment, and plant.
- Maintain procurement timelines supporting project delivery.
- Champion continuous improvements in procurement and supply chain workflows.
- Generate reports on procurement activities, spending analysis, and supplier metrics.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, contracts, and industry standards.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- At least 5 years in a senior procurement, purchasing, or supply chain role.
- Experience preferred in electrical contracting, M&E contracting, construction, or engineering sectors.
- Strong commercial insight and proven skills in negotiation.
- Proficient in managing supplier relationships and negotiating frameworks.
- Deep understanding of procurement methodologies, contract administration, and supply chain management.
- Advanced analytical and reporting skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and ERP or procurement systems.
- Excellent communication and capability to manage multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in dynamic, project-driven environments.
- Preferred third-level qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business, or related fields.
