About the Role

HMP Isle of Wight, operating under His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service, is looking for an Operational Support Grade to assist with the daily operations of a busy prison. This role blends desk-related tasks with physically active duties such as carrying out security searches at the gate, handling deliveries, monitoring visitor activity, overseeing phone calls and CCTV, and escorting vehicles around the prison grounds.

Driving is an essential component of this position; therefore, applicants must possess a valid UK driving licence.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct security and search procedures at the prison entrance.
Manage and coordinate incoming deliveries.
Supervise visitors effectively to maintain safety.
Monitor telephone communications and CCTV systems.
Physically escort vehicles across prison premises.

Candidate Profile

No formal qualifications are required, but effective communication skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, sound judgment, and being a collaborative team player are essential. You will work various shifts, including nights and weekends, to ensure continuous smooth functioning of the prison.
