Principal Data & AI Architect

About the role

NZ Post is looking for a Principal Data & AI Architect to help shape the direction of its Data and AI landscape. In this role, you will influence enterprise-level decisions, define architectural standards, and guide the evolution of scalable, secure, and practical data and AI capabilities that align with the broader enterprise architecture strategy.

This position sits at the centre of strategy and delivery. You will work closely with architects, technology leaders, data specialists, and business teams to design architecture approaches, establish guardrails, promote responsible AI, and support the delivery of production-ready solutions that create immediate value while setting up the organisation for the future.

You will be based in Highbrook, East Auckland, with flexibility to work from home.

What you will do

• Set the architectural direction for Data & AI across the organisation.
• Help teams make sound architecture decisions that are secure, scalable, and aligned to business priorities.
• Define reusable architecture patterns and governance guardrails for data and AI solutions.
• Promote and embed responsible AI practices across delivery teams.
• Advise on the design of AI-enabled capabilities that can be successfully deployed in production.
• Partner with technical and business stakeholders to align innovation, risk, and long-term business value.
• Influence enterprise-wide thinking and decisions around data and AI adoption.

About you

NZ Post is seeking an experienced architect who has worked in complex enterprise environments and is ready to apply that expertise to major Data & AI challenges. You should be confident in shaping ideas, building trust with both technical and business audiences, and guiding strategic decisions through clear communication.

Experience turning emerging technologies into practical business solutions, particularly within production AI and data environments, will help you stand out.
