About the Role
Join Royal Mail as a Postal Delivery Driver based in Donaghadee SUDO, BT23 4AA, serving the Newtonards area. This permanent position offers a competitive hourly wage of £13.68, paid monthly, with opportunities for paid overtime. You'll work 35 hours per week over 5 days in a 7-day cycle between Monday and Saturday, typically from 07:45 to 16:00, with varying shift patterns and delivery routes in response to demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and sort letters and parcels at the delivery office before dispatch.
- Deliver mail and parcels using a Royal Mail van and on foot within local neighborhoods.
- Develop positive relationships with customers through excellent service.
- Perform daily work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Work Environment and Expectations
- This physically demanding, fast-paced role involves walking up to 12 miles daily, equivalent to over 20,000 steps.
- Driving the company’s iconic red van is a daily task coupled with managing high parcels volumes.
- You will encounter busy and time-sensitive days, especially during peak postal seasons.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a full manual UK driving licence registered to your current name and address, with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Ability and willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass the required driving assessment.
- Good physical condition capable of walking long distances, climbing stairs and hills, and lifting mailbags weighing 10kg or more.
- Dependable, self-driven, and highly organized with resilience to thrive in a busy work setting.
- Customer-oriented mindset with pride in consistently delivering a great service.
- Comfortable working independently outdoors over varied routes.
