Role overview
This position is part of the Cards & Payments / Retail Banking division in Doha, Qatar. The team is looking for a dedicated analytics specialist to strengthen evidence-based decision-making across the full card lifecycle — from acquisition and activation to spend growth, retention, and profitability.
The role focuses on producing and interpreting portfolio performance reporting, uncovering trends and risks, assessing the impact of campaigns, and turning analytical findings into practical recommendations for senior leaders. It sits at the intersection of product strategy, marketing execution, and financial performance within a major financial institution.
Key responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and share recurring as well as ad hoc dashboards covering acquisition, activation, spend, ENR (Earning Net Revenue), delinquency, attrition, and profitability across the card portfolio.
- Perform in-depth portfolio analysis by product, channel, customer cohort, and vintage to understand performance drivers, risks, and areas for growth.
- Plan and run campaign effectiveness analysis, including pre- and post-campaign reviews, control groups, ROI calculations, response-rate analysis, uplift measurement, and A/B testing.
- Support Cards Product, Portfolio, Marketing, Risk, Operations, and Finance teams with insight packs, business cases, and scenario-based analysis for strategic and tactical decisions.
- Improve data integrity, streamline recurring reporting, automate manual workflows, and expand self-service analytics for business users.
- Own the daily, weekly, and monthly cards portfolio reporting suite, ensuring outputs are timely, accurate, and useful for leadership KPI tracking and corrective action.
- Review portfolio health across acquisition, activation, usage, retention, and attrition, and recommend targeted actions for underperforming segments.
- Create and maintain interactive dashboards and visualisations in Tableau and/or Power BI to reduce ad hoc requests and speed up decision-making.
- Translate analytical work into clear presentations and insight packs for senior management, linking recommendations to portfolio P&L levers such as interchange, fee income, cost of funds, and provision rates.
- Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to align KPI definitions, ensure data consistency, and embed analytics into business planning and campaign execution.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in cards analytics, portfolio analytics, or business intelligence within banking, payments, or fintech.
- Prior exposure to retail banking, consumer lending, or credit risk analytics is preferred.
- Strong understanding of cards portfolio concepts, including acquisition funnels, activation rates, spend behaviour, ENR or balance build, attrition, delinquency, and profitability drivers.
- Working knowledge of card P&L components such as interchange income, fee income, cost of funds, scheme fees, and provision/write-off.
- Experience with campaign analytics, including targeting, segmentation, control-group design, uplift measurement, and ROI assessment.
- Hands-on proficiency in SQL for complex querying of large datasets.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, data modelling, and macros.
- Ability to design dashboards and interactive reports using Tableau and/or Power BI.
- Python or R knowledge for statistical analysis, data handling, and automation is preferred.
- SAS experience for portfolio analytics and data extraction is preferred.
- Familiarity with CRM and campaign management tools such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Adobe Campaign, or SAS CI is preferred.
- Exposure to core banking or card management systems is preferred.
- Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate or an equivalent qualification is an advantage.
- Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) is listed as a valued certification.
- Strong storytelling and presentation ability, with the confidence to explain complex analysis in commercially relevant terms.
- Problem-solving mindset, curiosity, ability to prioritise multiple requests, collaborative approach, and strong attention to data quality and detail.
KPIs
- Deliver scheduled reports on time with less than 2% error rate.
- Achieve at least 70% monthly active usage of self-service dashboards among stakeholders.
- Complete campaign ROI and pre/post analysis for card campaigns within 10 business days of campaign closure.
- Increase the number of analytical recommendations adopted by Product and Marketing each quarter.
- Keep average turnaround for ad hoc analytics requests to 3 business days or less.
- Convert more manual reports into automated or self-service outputs each quarter.
