Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified Physiotherapist based in Gloucester, UK, to join our Occupational Health and Wellbeing department on a contract basis, working one day weekly as an independent contractor. The role aims to support employee physical health, enhance wellbeing, and boost workplace productivity by preventing, assessing, and managing musculoskeletal issues, offering ergonomic guidance, and facilitating rehabilitation aligned with global health objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform initial musculoskeletal evaluations for new hires to detect risk factors and provide injury prevention advice.
- Conduct regular health assessments focusing on risk-based medical surveillance, including retirement and return-to-work evaluations.
- Deliver timely physiotherapy treatments to reduce work-related injury downtime.
- Create and oversee rehabilitation plans in coordination with other healthcare professionals.
- Keep thorough, confidential medical and treatment documentation and supply relevant data to the organization.
- Analyze injury trends to identify workplace hazards and collaborate with management on preventive health and safety measures.
- Carry out ergonomic assessments to decrease the likelihood of musculoskeletal conditions and enhance workplace safety.
- Lead health promotion initiatives addressing chronic diseases, mental health, and injury prevention.
- Educate employees on health and ergonomic best practices through formal and informal sessions focusing on prevention and self-care.
- Effectively communicate health information and fit-to-work recommendations to management, HR, and stakeholders.
- Coordinate with external providers to support employee rehabilitation and health.
- Represent the Occupational Health and Physiotherapy teams in meetings, sharing insights on health trends and prevention strategies.
- Collaborate with Occupational Health Nurses and Physicians to deliver comprehensive employee care.
- Maintain accurate records of assessments and interventions and prepare monthly management reports outlining outcomes and recommendations.
- Manage physiotherapy clinic supplies and contribute to occupational health policy development and review.
Qualifications and Experience
- BSc (Hons) or MSc in Physiotherapy with registration at the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- At least two years' experience post-qualification, preferably in occupational health, musculoskeletal physiotherapy, or related areas, with industrial experience in corporate settings advantageous.
- Proficient clinical assessment skills and effective communication abilities, capable of working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Essential expertise in ergonomic assessments; additional certifications in health promotion, manual therapy, or ergonomic evaluations are beneficial.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and compliance with HCPC standards.
- Computer literate, particularly with Microsoft Office, and holds a valid driver’s license.
