Role Overview
This position involves providing superior service to BMO customers and potential clients by understanding their financial needs and recommending appropriate financial products and services. The Personal Banker collaborates internally and through multiple channels to enhance the customer experience and contribute to business growth.
Key Duties
- Proactively engages with current customers and prospects through assessments to foster loyalty and uncover opportunities.
- Conducts thorough needs evaluations to tailor financial solutions encompassing everyday banking, retail investments, lending, home financing (including self-employed applications), and small business offerings.
- Advises clients on digital and self-serving banking options to simplify banking processes.
- Supports transactional needs aligned with customer flow.
- Builds new client relationships and schedules appointments by reaching out within the community.
- Addresses inquiries and resolves discrepancies identified during credit audits ensuring compliance with lending policies and regulatory requirements.
- Employs risk management strategies to protect assets and maintain credit quality following the bank's guidelines.
- Provides credit recommendations on personal and home financing transactions in compliance with credit policies.
- Collaborates actively as part of the branch and market teams.
- Integrates marketing promotions and programs into customer interactions to provide strategic financial advice.
- Maintains accurate and complete work records.
- Innovates to enhance the personalization of customer experiences.
- Contributes to continuous improvement of overall customer service and business outcomes.

- Manages complex tasks and escalations professionally within established guidelines.

Qualifications
- Typically 2 to 3 years of relevant experience with a post-secondary degree or equivalent education and experience combination.
- Completion of required investment product registration within Canada as applicable.
- Possession of appropriate lending qualifications and certifications.
- Understanding of personal and small business banking customer needs and solutions.
- Familiarity with retail investment and lending product offerings.
- Experience in the financial services sector is advantageous.
- Confident use of social media, smart devices, online tools, and applications.
- Experience providing consultative customer service or sales demonstrates commitment to personalized customer experiences.
- Strong drive to meet results within team-based and consultative sales environments.
- Resourceful, proactive, and confident in customer engagement.
- Collaborative team player prepared to assume multiple roles as needed.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build strong customer rapport.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this role ranges from $36,600 to $67,500 annually, varying by location, skills, qualifications, and may include commission components. Part-time salaries are prorated based on hours worked. Total compensation may encompass performance incentives, discretionary bonuses, and a variety of benefits including health insurance, tuition reimbursement, life and accident insurance, and retirement savings plans.
