Overview
We are looking for a diligent Payroll Officer to join Nationwide Group, based in Noble Park, Victoria. This role is crafted to manage the complete payroll processing cycle, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable laws and company policies. You will be part of the Finance team, contributing to payroll reconciliations, reporting, and providing support to employees.
Work Schedule
The position offers a flexible work pattern of either four days per week at six hours per day or five days per week at five hours per day.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute full payroll procedures accurately and promptly, ensuring adherence to legislation, industrial awards, and company guidelines.
- Oversee payroll operations including superannuation processing, payroll tax, PAYG withholding, employee terminations, adjustments, master file upkeep, and reimbursements.
- Manage contractor Recipient Created Tax Invoices (RCTIs) on a weekly and monthly basis within required deadlines.
- Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations and assist with month-end financial reporting.
- Support year-end payroll duties, including Single Touch Payroll (STP) finalisation, annual payroll tax preparation, reconciliations, audits, and insurance reporting.
- Deliver prompt and professional responses to payroll-related employee inquiries, assist in onboarding new hires, and manage payroll repayments.
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of payroll data; update payroll reporting tools such as Power BI dashboards and other internal reports.
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements for payroll systems, controls, and reporting to enhance efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with the Finance team and relevant stakeholders to support organizational operations and ensure payroll quality.
- Support a safe, inclusive workplace aligned to company values, and perform additional tasks to meet business operational needs.
Candidate Profile
- Possesses a tertiary degree in Business, Finance, or related fields.
- Has 1-2 years of experience in a similar payroll role.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, and familiar with payroll systems such as Chris21 or UKG Pro.
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities paired with a customer service mindset.
- Capable of managing multiple responsibilities and meeting deadlines within a dynamic environment.
- Maintains confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with sensitive payroll data.
