About the Role
NBC, Tanzania's oldest bank with over 50 years of experience, provides diverse banking and wealth management services. This role focuses on delivering payroll and HR operational services aligned with set standard operating procedures to ensure efficient employee data management and payroll processing. The incumbent will engage with internal and external clients via multiple channels, driving service excellence, compliance, and continuous improvements within payroll and HR operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Level 1 payroll data entry and validation, ensuring accuracy of entries sourced from Workday and other channels.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) to verify documentation and payroll information compliance, addressing discrepancies before processing.
- Process payroll inputs promptly to guarantee timely employee remuneration, providing feedback to HRBPs when additional details are needed.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure statutory remittance documentation is filed monthly according to information risk management (IRM) standards.
- Assist in compliance with statutory deductions before cut-off dates and complete payroll checklists supporting periodic submissions like HESLB, WCF, PAYE, and SOL reports.
- Support HRBPs and business units with wage calculations related to employment status changes, and respond to payroll queries, including payslip generation and interpretation.
- Coordinate pension-related tasks for employees, retirees, and ex-employees alongside the Payroll Manager, and promote HR portal self-service to employees and managers.
- Oversee employee records management to ensure completeness, proper indexing, secure storage, and easy retrieval aligned with IRM standards.
- Manage employee file issuance ensuring controlled movement and accurate tracking.
- Maintain databases of active and archived employee files and the Business List of Records (BLoR) for compliance.
- Conduct post-employment screenings, liaise with external vendors, and ensure timely report submission and filing.
- Ensure all payroll processes comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements including proper authorization and documentation.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in handling HR records and promptly report and escalate risk incidents with recommended corrective actions.
- Continuously seek opportunities to strengthen internal risk and control environments, addressing root causes of errors and taking ownership of improvements.
- Deliver services in alignment with company values and service level agreements (SLAs) ensuring excellent customer experience to colleagues and clients.
- Engage proactively in personal training and development to enhance service delivery and escalate any issues potentially impacting colleague experience.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies. Familiarity with digital tools, team enablement, ethics, financial administration, payroll knowledge, openness to change, and quality orientation are key competencies, with some areas requiring further development.
