Role overview
This is a full-time opportunity within NHS Blood and Transplant’s busy Pay Support team in England. The role suits someone who enjoys delivering a strong customer experience, works carefully with sensitive payroll information, and is comfortable handling deadlines and pressure.
The team processes pay for more than 6,500 employees every month, so the position plays an important part in keeping employee records accurate, ensuring correct payments and deductions, supporting expense processing, and dealing with queries and overpayments.
What you will do
- Keep employee master records current in ESR, including personal and pay details, while making sure the information matches operational needs.
- Provide operational and user support for systems so that expenses and attendance data are processed accurately and on time.
- Coordinate system data to meet statutory rules and deadline requirements.
- Organise and manage your own workload efficiently and within required timeframes.
- Carry out complex calculations, handle enquiries, and give information or guidance when needed.
Experience and knowledge needed
The role requires someone with strong attention to detail, a proactive approach to customer care, and enthusiasm for helping improve services. You should understand ESR, NHS terms and conditions, and how to work effectively while under pressure.
Useful background knowledge includes DWP, PAYE, and benefit-in-kind processes, procedures, and regulations, along with NHS Terms and Conditions 2018 and Medical and Dental terms and conditions, or the relevant successor bodies.
Qualifications
You should have GCSEs, or an equivalent qualification, in English Language and Mathematics. A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development is also expected.
