Overview
Forefront Dermatology aims to be the preferred dermatology provider treating all skin conditions in every community served, enhancing quality and longevity of life through dermatologic care. The Patient Access Surgical Scheduler role supports this mission by managing appointment scheduling and ensuring excellent experiences for patients and staff across multiple clinics.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently coordinate and schedule patient appointments according to provider protocols and templates.
- Maintain high accuracy in scheduling with adherence to quality assurance programs.
- Meet department targets such as quality metrics, handling times, appointment availability, and turnaround times.
- Collaborate with leadership for continual professional growth and skill enhancement.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to patients and colleagues within patient access teams.
- Document medical appointments professionally and accurately in patient records.
- Develop knowledge relating to dermatology procedures, diagnoses, wound care, and prescriptions.
- Schedule various dermatologic surgical procedures following clinician preferences, including but not limited to MOHS surgery, excisions, ED&C, follow-ups, and recalls.
- Participate in special projects and team communications as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum education: High school diploma, GED/HSED, or equivalent.
- Required professional certification or licensure such as Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse.
- Completion of dermatology technician training within 30 days of employment.
- Preferably 2+ years recent medical office experience, particularly with dermatology or cosmetic procedures.
- Prior experience in customer service and familiarity with electronic medical records is preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently or as part of a team.
- Proficiency with basic computer operations and capability to quickly adapt to new software.
- Typing speed around 40 words per minute is advantageous.
- Capability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism and compassionate demeanor at all times.
Physical and Work Conditions
- Ability to communicate effectively in a multi-office environment using telephone, email, and electronic systems.
- Capability to sit for extended periods and operate office equipment efficiently.
- Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM Central Time; initial 6 weeks training from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Central Time.
