About Valarian Technologies
Valarian Technologies is a pioneering dual-use tech firm dedicated to developing essential solutions that secure the future amid evolving global security threats. We focus on innovative security beyond traditional military domains, tackling asymmetric risks that influence technological dominance, economic stability, and democratic integrity. Our flagship platform, Acra (meaning fortress in Greek), offers infrastructure-agnostic secure enclaves designed to protect vital data for a variety of government and commercial purposes, including mission-critical systems resilience, safeguarding intellectual property during technology adoption, aiding disaster response information flow, and enforcing zero-trust environments for sensitive communications like M&A and attorney-client privilege.
Joining our London HQ or global team means collaborating within high-achieving teams building advanced software, platforms, and infrastructure driven by a purposeful mission to make a real-world impact.
Role Overview
We seek a resourceful Paralegal ready to take on a broad and responsible role within our expanding organization. This position involves day-to-day legal operations management while driving improvements in compliance controls, contract governance, and risk management procedures in a dynamic, early-stage technology company environment. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced settings, initiates solutions proactively, and plays a vital part in establishing sound legal foundations.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts such as NDAs, vendor agreements, SaaS contracts, and statements of work.
- Oversee and update the central contract management system, monitoring key deadlines, renewals, rights, and obligations.
- Maintain and refine standard contract templates, company playbooks, and fallback language.
- Design, implement, and manage legal operations workflows and processes to improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain comprehensive corporate records, legal documentation, and minute books.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Security, and Product teams.
- Identify recurring legal issues and process bottlenecks to create legal self-service tools and checklists for non-legal staff.
- Conduct targeted legal and regulatory research focused on software, data privacy, and dual-use technology compliance.
- Support data privacy initiatives, including GDPR compliance and security audits.
- Translate complex legal analyses into clear guidance for internal stakeholders.
- Assist in preparing investor reports, board packets, and facilitate corporate transaction processes like due diligence datarooms.
Candidate Profile
- One to three years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or junior legal counsel in-house or at a leading law firm.
- Prior experience in startups, scale-ups, or fast-moving tech sectors is highly preferred.
- Proficient understanding of commercial contract law, legal drafting, and corporate legal principles.
- Educational qualifications include an English Law degree (LL.B / Senior Status Law), GDL, SQE, LPC, or comparable paralegal certification or experience.
- Comfortable shaping and enhancing legal playbooks and processes in an imperfect, evolving environment.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong personal responsibility when managing legal risks and confidential data.
- Confident in liaising with business stakeholders to secure contract approvals, signatures, and legal input.
- Technologically adept, experienced with Contract Lifecycle Management systems, e-signature platforms (e.g., DocuSign), knowledge management tools (e.g., Notion, Confluence), and standard office software.
Employee Benefits
- Equity ownership opportunities reflecting your contribution to our mission.
- Competitive salary package recognizing your individual skill set.
- Employer pension contributions for your financial security.
- Private healthcare coverage demonstrating our commitment to your well-being.
- Flexible hybrid working arrangements accommodating varied preferences.
