Role Summary

The Package Handler is responsible for the accurate sorting and processing of mail and parcels, ensuring correct label application and adherence to established handling procedures to maintain high quality and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Efficiently sort and process all incoming mail and parcels following designated area requirements while upholding quality standards.
• Consistently achieve or surpass daily sorting and processing targets.
• Verify that each mailing item has labels properly attached and that the zip code on the label corresponds accurately to the address.
• Operate sorting equipment, including loading large cardboard containers or bins, and swiftly placing items onto conveyor systems.
• Scan labels accurately and maintain a clean and organized workstation environment.
• Adapt flexibly to various operational stations as needed to support overall business functions.
• Additional duties may be assigned or modified according to DHL’s discretion.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent, with preference for related experience.
• Strong listening skills and ability to follow verbal instructions precisely.
• Ability to sort items both alphabetically and numerically.
• Basic mathematical skills including counting, addition, and subtraction.
• Capability to perform consistently in a fast-paced environment over extended shifts.
• Collaborative team player who works well with colleagues to meet shared objectives.
• Comfortable working within procedures that are clearly outlined and instructional.
• Ability to foster positive relationships by engaging regularly with team members.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent walking, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50 pounds (additional weight assistance may be provided).
• Regular reaching overhead, squatting, bending, or kneeling throughout the shift.
• Ability to transport parcels using a pallet jack.
• Work environment includes exposure to varying temperatures (hot/cold), moderate noise levels (not requiring hearing protection), dust, dirt, and variable lighting conditions.
