About the Role
Mount Isa Mines, part of Glencore Australia, is hiring multiple entry-level Nippers for their Development team at the George Fisher Mine Operations located in Mount Isa, Queensland. These positions serve as a foundational step into the underground mining industry and are based residentially in Mount Isa. This opportunity is perfect for individuals looking to start their careers locally while contributing to significant transformation projects on site designed to create stable, long-term career prospects.
Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-start equipment checks, identify hazards, complete Pre-Task Risk Assessments (PRAs), and set up barricades and signage as necessary.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards by cleaning light vehicles and clearing excess consumables and waste from work areas.
- Communicate timely and precise information to Mine Control and across shifts.
- Report the status of development headings established during shifts to the Development Supervisor.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Proven track record of reliability and punctuality.
- Willingness and capability to learn new operational procedures.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with keen attention to detail.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing work environments.
- Possession of a current Australian Manual Driver's Licence.
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment medical examination, which includes drug and alcohol testing.
- Current Queensland Security Explosives Clearance Card or the ability to obtain one.
Additional Information
The role operates on a rotating roster of 7 days on and 7 days off with day and night shifts alternating.
