Company overview
Join the Novotel Queenstown Lakeside front office team and help deliver smooth guest service through the night. This role is focused on keeping overnight hotel operations running reliably while making sure every transaction is accurately checked and balanced.
Role summary
As a Night Auditor, you will work the overnight shift from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM. You will be the point person for the front desk at night, assist guests, coordinate with other departments, maintain brand standards, and complete the end-of-day financial close so the property is ready for the next business day. You will also manage overnight situations with confidence and professionalism.
Pay and shift details
The wage for this position is $30.19 per hour. A night shift allowance applies for hours worked between 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM, according to company policy. This is a full-time role with 30 hours per week.
Key duties
- Take charge of front office activity during the night shift and serve as the hotel’s on-duty representative.
- Check, balance, and audit transactions across the front office, food and beverage, and other revenue areas.
- Prepare reconciliations and financial reports while ensuring guest folios and revenue entries are correct.
- Apply strong security practices to protect guests, information, and hotel assets.
- Deliver prompt, courteous, and efficient guest service, including resolving complaints or issues overnight.
- Work closely with Housekeeping, Maintenance, and other teams to support daily operations and guest needs.
- Follow hotel policies, cash control procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Guide and support overnight colleagues in line with the company’s service culture and values.
What the role requires
- At least 6 months of experience in a hotel front office or a similar position is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Opera Cloud and MS Excel is an advantage, along with basic accounting understanding.
- Strong focus on accuracy and detail, plus good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Clear communication and strong people skills with a guest-first approach.
- Confidence to work independently and make practical decisions during overnight operations.
- Understanding of hotel operations, revenue handling, and reporting processes.
- Availability for weekends, public holidays, and a rotating roster.
- Applicants must hold a valid visa for work in New Zealand and be prepared to commit long term.
