Job description
Overview
Engage as a Mental Health Professional within a correctional facility located at the Health Centre in Eastern Region, Uganda. This role requires addressing psychological, emotional, and behavioral challenges experienced by inmates through therapy, assessments, and treatment planning. You'll serve individuals with conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and substance abuse in a secure environment, managing diverse and complex mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and group counseling and therapy to inmates.
- Conduct psychological assessments and formulate tailored treatment plans.
- Manage care for inmates with severe mental illness and trauma histories in a high-security setting.
- Support inmates' overall well-being, crisis intervention, and development of social skills.
- Oversee clinical care, treatment supervision, and mental health service delivery at various clinical levels.
- Train and mentor staff involved in mental health services.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Formal training and experience in treating mental disorders.
- Proven capability in developing effective intervention and treatment programs.
- Skilled in providing both individual and group therapeutic counseling.
- Comprehensive knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostic systems, psychological theories, and ethical standards.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
