Position Overview
This role invites a highly skilled professional to spearhead the advancement of multimodal functionalities within next-generation artificial intelligence systems, based in Germany. The mandate involves creating a pioneering research domain focused on enhancing how sophisticated models comprehend and engage with visual data.
The position merges direct research involvement, technical expertise in engineering, and strategic leadership of essential AI competencies. Collaboration occurs within an innovative setting equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and extensive model training capabilities.

Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the strategic roadmap for multimodality, promoting adoption of multimodal features in AI models.
- Develop and deploy initial image-based input functions tailored for sophisticated coding environments and autonomous agent systems.
- Chart progression from adapter-centric methods to integrated native multimodal system architectures.
- Design and conduct comprehensive experiments spanning hypothesis development, implementation, large-scale training, and analytical evaluation.
- Work jointly with teams specializing in research evaluation, software architecture, data management, and post-training analysis.
- Create bespoke datasets and evaluation tools aimed at assessing multimodal capabilities in software engineering.
- Play a fundamental role in establishing a new research division balancing innovation alongside dependable delivery.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end training of production-ready vision-language models.
- Profound knowledge of large language models, including transformer architectures and distributed large-scale training techniques.
- Proficiency in Python programming focused on machine learning system implementations.
- Capacity to lead autonomously in dynamic, uncertain environments while identifying effective solutions.
- Robust research skills with experience in experimental design, execution, and data analysis.
- Track record of cross-disciplinary collaboration to fulfill complex AI project goals.
- Leadership experience or experience building initiatives from inception with comprehensive ownership and technical contributions.
- Specialized background in vision-language models, multimodal integration challenges, or agent-based computer system utilization is highly advantageous.
