Medical Laboratory Technologist - Level 1 - Emirati Talent

Role overview

This position is based at Mediclinic City Hospital in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The main objective of the role is to carry out routine laboratory investigations while following the relevant professional and regulatory standards.

Key duties

• Carry out standard laboratory testing in line with approved professional procedures and guidance.
• Manage samples by sorting, organizing, and directing them according to the required tests.
• Handle clinical chemistry, immunology, serology, autoimmune, haematology, coagulation, blood transfusion, and clinical microscopy work, along with associated laboratory tasks.
• Analyse body fluids, blood samples, urine, and cerebrospinal fluid.
• Review test results and confirm the accuracy of findings.
• Support quality improvement activities that reduce risk, strengthen compliance, and improve patient safety.
• Assist with and, when necessary, help guide training activities and health and safety initiatives.
• Use, calibrate, and monitor laboratory equipment such as analysers, and keep temperature records up to date.

Education and experience

A Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates should have 3 to 5 years of full-time experience working as a medical laboratory technologist, specifically in clinical chemistry.

Technical knowledge and skills

• Proper upkeep of instruments according to manufacturer instructions
• Ability to draft standard operating procedures
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer use
• Understanding of real-time multiplex PCR and closed molecular systems
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment, quality control checks, and troubleshooting procedures
• Experience with laboratory information systems and report preparation
