Position Overview
Cache County is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Mapper I or II within the Recorder's Office. This role involves technical drafting and detailed analysis to create, update, and maintain land ownership records, parcel abstracts, and ownership plats, complying with Utah state statutes and Cache County policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to phone and in-person inquiries regarding ownership mapping issues and concerns.
- Confirm current record title ownership and provide detailed technical support to office staff, county departments, other government agencies, land record professionals, and public patrons.
- Address matters related to taxing district boundaries, title record discrepancies, ownership maps, legal description interpretation, acreage calculations, easements, parcel combinations or separations, and parcel numbering.
- Collaborate with planning departments across jurisdictions for timely subdivision plat reviews.
- Accurately calculate and collect recording fees and process qualifying plats for recording.
- Scan plats and input pertinent data into the county recorder system.
- Process recorded plats by generating parcels and assigning parcel numbers as detailed in plats and policy.
- Verify legal descriptions on daily documents against existing title records and maintain them in the county recorder system according to state requirements.
- Create legal descriptions for tax purposes when required by recorded documents.
Qualifications
- Mapper I: Associate's Degree or equivalent with at least six months of practical computer-aided drafting experience (preferably AutoCAD) gained on the job or via courses/workshops, plus a minimum of one year of experience working with land title or land development records.
- Mapper II: Associate's Degree or equivalent plus a UAC Recorder's Cadastral Mapping Certification and a minimum of two years experience as a Mapper I or in an equivalent role.
- The ideal candidate will have a combination of education and experience meeting these minimums.
