Role Overview
We are looking for a knowledgeable Maintenance Technician (Fitter) for our night shift within the Maintenance Team. This role is essential in maintaining the reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance of manufacturing equipment and mechanical systems. The position involves Monday to Friday night shifts, with a need for shift flexibility when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems, plant machinery, and equipment
- Identify and diagnose equipment malfunctions, determine root causes, and apply effective remedies
- Support ongoing improvements to machinery and equipment performance
- Procure and manage spare parts needed for equipment upkeep
- Collaborate with external specialist vendors during scheduled preventative maintenance
- Assist in factory acceptance testing, commissioning, and qualification processes for new installations
- Help establish and refine preventative maintenance schedules and routines
- Participate in risk assessments related to tasks and equipment
- Communicate maintenance concerns and suggest process improvements to supervisors
- Resolve technical issues swiftly to minimize downtime
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives such as MEP, OEE, OPEX, RCA, and productivity enhancement programs
- Support key performance indicator tracking and report generation for the technical department
- Assist during regulatory inspections and compliance audits
- Ensure all maintenance work aligns with health and safety standards and is safely executed
Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a trade-certified qualification in Mechanical Maintenance
- Minimum of four years’ experience in maintenance and troubleshooting within highly automated production environments
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and automation systems
- Prior experience working in GMP or similarly regulated settings
- Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities
- Ability to interpret technical documents such as schematics, procedures, and specifications
- Excellent documentation and organisational expertise
- Capability to work autonomously and manage workload prioritisation
- Availability for shift work and willingness to work overtime as needed
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or aseptic production environments is advantageous
- Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems and mechanical specification interpretation
- Experience with electromechanical manufacturing equipment maintenance
- Additional skills in machining and welding are beneficial
