Overview
The role is primarily focused on supporting manufacturing operations to meet their performance goals through leadership in technology and process simulation. This involves leading root cause investigations of complex engineering challenges and spearheading improvements in processes, equipment, and technology to boost capacity and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to achieve performance objectives.
- Lead technology input for root cause analysis of complex process and engineering problems.
- Identify, define, and implement enhancements in existing processes, equipment, or technologies aiming at higher capacity and efficiency.
- Evaluate, justify, and prioritize plant improvement projects including PIOs, CAPEX, and Revamp initiatives; support their deployment.
- Review process engineering documentation thoroughly.
- Evaluate technology, catalysts, chemicals, additives, and fuels for suitability.
- Conduct audits and benchmarking of plant operations, product quality, and energy usage.
- Ensure timely achievement of milestones in pilot and scale-up studies.
- Anticipate emerging technological constraints and trends; recommend feasible alternatives for implementation.
- Participate in commercial plant trial activities.
- Develop, validate, customize, and maintain simulation and advanced process control (APC) models.
- Prepare comparative technology assessment reports.
- Engage in Process Safety Management (PSM) activities.
- Coach, mentor, and support the onboarding and professional development of Graduate Engineer Trainees (technology discipline).
Skills and Competencies
- Strong foundation in chemical engineering principles, applicable codes, standards, and domain-specific process technology.
- Ability to work independently and take decisive action on technical challenges within area of expertise.
- Proficient communication and networking skills across plants, sites, project teams, and technology networks; active contributor in meetings; influence collaborators across functions.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical thinking, and complex problem-solving abilities.
- Effective writing and presentation skills.
- Process skill proficiencies include: Process Design Review (skill level), Creating Design Standards (awareness), Process Simulation (skill level), Pinch Analysis (skill level), Cooling Water Network (skill level), and Flare Network (skill level).
Educational Qualifications
Must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
Experience
Should have between 8 to 15 years of relevant industrial experience backed by strong technical knowledge and communication expertise. Prior experience with various process simulation software is essential.
