Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive Lead AI/ML Engineer to elevate our SaaS platform into an intelligent, data-centric solution. Starting September 1, 2026, this role involves leading the AI function as the company grows. Beyond adding AI features, you will pinpoint where AI, machine learning, and automation create tangible business value, then design, develop, and implement features that enhance workflows, decision making, and operational efficiency.

Reporting closely with the Founder, Product, and Engineering teams, you'll shape the AI vision, construct scalable AI tools, and build an AI roadmap integral to the platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Gain deep understanding of the SaaS platform, user workflows, and business objectives.
• Discover impactful AI and automation applications.
• Create AI-driven product capabilities leveraging Python and contemporary AI toolkits.
• Develop sophisticated predictive models, recommendation systems, and workflow automations.
• Implement LLM-powered functionalities using OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, or equivalents.
• Design retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector search, and AI orchestration solutions.
• Enhance data architecture, APIs, and pipelines to scale AI effectively.
• Deploy, monitor, and manage AI/ML solutions in production environments.
• Apply AI governance principles ensuring explainability and security.
• Collaborate with engineering teams for smooth AI integration into core products.
• Influence the company's long-term AI plans and help build the AI team.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Significant commercial experience in AI/ML engineering, software development, or data engineering.
• Advanced Python programming capability.
• Track record of integrating AI features into SaaS products successfully.
• Expertise in building and deploying machine learning models.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, embeddings, vector DBs, and RAG methods.
• Proficiency in SQL, database design, and data modeling.
• Knowledge of REST APIs and system integration techniques.
• Familiarity with cloud service platforms like Azure or AWS.
• Ability to convert business challenges into operational AI solutions.
• Strong communication skills and adeptness at managing stakeholder interactions.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Experience with SaaS products.
• Familiarity with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Semantic Kernel.
• Using vector search platforms such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, or Azure AI Search.
• Expertise in MLOps, model monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Background in workflow automation or operational system development.
• Knowledge of multi-agent AI frameworks.
• Experience with analytics platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, or Microsoft Fabric.
