Role Overview
The Land Surveyor role involves delivering precise and timely land surveying support for infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include conducting field measurements, setting out, levelling, and accurately recording survey data. This position ensures survey tasks are completed safely and with attention to detail, maintaining and calibrating equipment and providing reliable data for construction teams to align with design specifications.
Primary Duties
- Assisting in field measurements, setting out, and levelling on construction sites.
- Operating fundamental survey instruments under guidance while ensuring accurate recording of field data.
- Supporting data processing of survey results and assembling as-built documentation.
- Maintaining survey tools and keeping calibration documentation current.
- Helping mark reference points, gridlines, and levels necessary for civil and infrastructure work.
- Confirming setting-out points correspond with design drawings prior to handing over to construction teams.
- Safely managing transport, setup, and storage of survey equipment at the site.
- Promptly notifying the Land Surveyor about any equipment faults or damages.
- Keeping site notebooks and logs in accordance with project documentation standards.
- Contributing to daily survey progress updates for reporting purposes.
- Promoting innovative methods and technologies to enhance efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining quality.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- Between 1 and 3 years of relevant survey support experience, ideally within construction or infrastructure sectors.
- Familiarity with site setting-out tasks and gathering field data.
- Basic knowledge of surveying concepts, including levelling and setting-out techniques.
- Ability to interpret design drawings and coordinate points.
- Awareness of health, safety, and environmental protocols in surveying activities at construction sites.
- Strong numerical accuracy and meticulousness in taking measurements.
- Competency in using basic surveying instruments such as total stations, levels, and GPS under supervision.
- Basic skills in MS Office; experience with AutoCAD is beneficial.
- Effective communication and collaboration capabilities for team coordination on site.
