About the Company
Our client is a prominent industrial conglomerate operating extensive refinery and manufacturing facilities in Tanzania. They are currently looking to appoint a skilled and meticulous Laboratory Technician (In Charge) to manage and oversee daily laboratory operations ensuring precise testing, quality assurance, and adherence to laboratory standards.
About the Role
The appointed individual will undertake laboratory tests, upkeep of instruments, compilation of technical reports, and collaborate with production and quality assurance teams to uphold superior product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform physical and chemical analyses on raw materials, intermediate samples, and end products according to defined protocols.
- Supervise daily laboratory workflows ensuring tests are conducted accurately and within stipulated timeframes.
- Operate laboratory devices, conduct regular maintenance, and execute calibration routines.
- Document test outcomes comprehensively, analyze data, and develop test reports preserving data integrity.
- Detect any irregular test results, investigate underlying factors, and report findings to pertinent teams.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
- Manage laboratory chemical stocks, reagents, and consumables maintaining optimal inventory levels.
- Provide dependable technical information and advice to production, quality assurance, and operations units.
- Engage in internal quality evaluations, audits, and proactive enhancement projects.
- Offer mentorship and technical assistance to junior lab staff as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related physical science field.
- Between 3 to 5 years of practical laboratory experience, ideally in oil & gas, lubricants, petrochemical, refinery, or similar industrial sectors.
Skills and Competencies
- Solid knowledge of laboratory testing techniques, quality control practices, and analytical instrumentation.
- Familiarity with industry standards, laboratory safety protocols, and GLP.
- Competence in preparing technical documentation, analyzing lab results, and resolving test-related issues.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and lab documentation software.
