About the Role
Egis is expanding in Canada and is seeking a Junior Environmental Scientist to support a range of environmental consulting and infrastructure-related assignments in Hamilton, Ontario. This opportunity is suited to someone who wants to grow their career within a large multidisciplinary team working on meaningful development projects.
Key Responsibilities
The role involves hands-on field and reporting work across environmental assessment, remediation, hydrogeology, and excess soils projects.
- Carry out Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and remediation work in accordance with CSA standards and Ontario Regulation 153/04.
- Complete sampling and related reporting for excess soils projects under Ontario Regulation 406/19.
- Perform field investigations and prepare reports for hydrogeological assessments, including infiltration testing, single-well response tests, and groundwater sampling.
- Support fieldwork and documentation for large infrastructure and province-wide projects.
- Work occasional nights and weekends when project demands require it.
- Take on additional duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should bring relevant education, consulting experience, technical knowledge, and strong reporting skills.
- Post-secondary training in environmental science, engineering, biology, geoscience, or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience in environmental consulting.
- Practical experience with Phase I/II ESAs, hydrogeological assessments, and/or excess soils work.
- Working knowledge of Ontario Regulation 153/04, Ontario Regulation 406/19, and CSA guidance.
- Proven ability to execute fieldwork, including sampling procedures, groundwater assessment methods, and infiltration testing.
- Strong technical writing, note-taking, and documentation abilities with careful attention to compliance requirements.
- Valid driver's licence and readiness to travel.
- Clear communication, coordination, and the ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team in a fast-moving environment.
