Overview
Buffalo Rock Company, a distinguished Pepsi and Keurig Dr Pepper bottler established over 123 years ago in Birmingham, AL, is seeking an Inventory Clerk for their Central Hub. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring smooth warehouse operations for their Distribution Center, utilizing the Vertique System and warehouse management software.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure punctual and consistent attendance, working required hours including nights, weekends, and holidays to support operational needs.
- Organize and maintain inventory storage rigorously to facilitate efficient handling and prevent damage, verifying locations by code and date with the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Operate forklifts to move products, align physical stock with WMS records, and rotate stock using First Expires/First Out (FEFO) methodology.
- Identify and report damaged or defective items promptly, ensuring compliance with storage safety and quality standards.
- Perform regular physical inventory counts and comprehensive weekly wall-to-wall audits using RF scanners to verify stock accuracy and resolve discrepancies timely.
- Collaborate with the Inventory Supervisor to reconcile WMS and physical stock inconsistencies, including incorrect SKUs, empty locations, or inventory variances.
- Enter inventory adjustments accurately into the WMS and generate detailed reports on stock levels, movements, and discrepancies.
- Participate actively in End of Month (EOM) and End of Year (EOY) inventory counts, which may require weekend and holiday shifts.
- Analyze and manage zero picks and expired product counts, adjusting inventory accordingly, and support closed-dated product shipment reporting.
- Communicate effectively within the team to resolve inventory issues and maintain a clean, safe work environment aligned with safety regulations and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Adhere strictly to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) per CFR 21 section 110 and partake in mandatory food safety training, reporting potential food safety concerns as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Work includes indoor warehouse and outdoor conditions, with temperatures ranging from extreme heat to cold.
- Physical activities involve standing, walking, manual manipulation, grasping, reaching above shoulder level, speaking, climbing, squatting, bending, and lifting weights typically up to 50 lbs frequently.
- Employees must have near, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, as well as auditory ability to communicate and hear throughout shifts.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as high visibility clothing, slip-resistant shoes, masks, and eye protection is required.
- Role requires physical presence at the Central Hub and participation in all aspects of inventory management using the Vertique system.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Minimum education: High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year experience in inventory roles using warehouse management systems. Forklift operation experience (sit-down and stand-up) preferred.
- Familiarity with spreadsheet and database tools such as Microsoft Excel preferred.
