About the Role and Client
This interim position is based in Uxbridge, requiring full-time on-site presence with an immediate start. The initial contract spans 90 days, offering a competitive day rate tied to experience, with potential conversion to a permanent role for outstanding candidates. The client is a rapidly expanding food wholesaler that supplies premium fresh produce and food items to prestigious restaurants across London. The company seeks a proactive Warehouse & Logistics Manager to effectively manage warehouse activities and transport operations in a busy, fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for daily warehouse operations encompassing receiving goods, order picking, packing, and dispatching shipments.
- Oversee transport management including planning driver schedules, coordinating delivery routes, and minimizing reliance on external agencies and courier services.
- Ensure that stock is delivered to the warehouse floor timely to meet daily dispatch deadlines with accuracy and efficiency.
- Supervise the warehouse team by providing clear guidance and maintaining smooth operational flow.
- Quickly identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical solutions to streamline processes.
- Maintain direct communication with the CEO to report progress, challenges, and operational updates.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated experience managing both warehouse and transport operations, preferably within food wholesale, FMCG, or similar environments with high time sensitivity.
- Track record of integrating into complex operational settings and taking corrective action to stabilize and improve workflow.
- Strong leadership abilities with comfort leading teams on the warehouse floor.
- Hands-on knowledge of transport planning, driver oversight, and strategies to reduce agency dependency.
- Familiarity with warehouse practices such as pick accuracy, stock control, and scheduling of dispatches.
- Calm and pragmatic approach to problem-solving and operations management.
- Located within commuting distance of Uxbridge or able to commit to full-time on-site work.
Preferred Additional Experience
- Experience handling perishable goods, especially in chilled or temperature-controlled environments.
- Background in interim or turnaround roles managing operational improvements.
