Position Overview
Omaha Performing Arts is seeking a dedicated Human Resources Specialist focused on fostering positive employee experiences and facilitating successful team dynamics. This role is central to attracting and onboarding talent, assisting employees and management, organizing engagement efforts, and maintaining smooth HR operations throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end recruitment processes including job advertising, screening candidates, conducting interviews, and supporting hiring decisions.
- Guide hiring managers and interviewers on recruitment protocols to ensure consistency and best practices.
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation activities to guarantee a seamless integration for new team members.
- Act as the initial contact for employee inquiries and provide dependable support and solutions.
- Collaborate with supervisors regarding employee conduct, performance, and workplace issues, interpreting organizational policies for clarity and compliance.
- Manage employee relations concerns at the preliminary stage, escalating complex issues appropriately.
- Assist with internal communication efforts such as preparing newsletters and announcements via Paylocity.
- Provide administrative support for employee committees and initiatives including Wellness, Staff Appreciation, and Inclusion programs.
- Partner with various stakeholders to effectively communicate employee engagement activities and recognition programs.
- Support the planning and execution of employee engagement events and organizational activities.
- Prepare workforce reports and maintain accurate employment records in line with legal and organizational standards.
- Help communicate policies, maintain documentation, and improve HR processes ensuring adherence to applicable laws and enhancing employee experience.
Required Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of experience in HR administration with required recruiting experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Proven capacity to handle multiple priorities efficiently within a dynamic work environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build trustful relationships at all organizational levels.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise prudent judgment.
- Experience in HR information systems, preferably Paylocity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
Education
A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline is mandatory. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible HR experience may be considered as alternatives.
Supervisory Duties
No supervisory responsibilities are associated with this role.
Physical and Work Conditions
- Capability to manage the mental and physical demands related to computer use and preparing reports.
- Manual dexterity appropriate for keyboard use, including repetitive hand motions and fine coordination.
- Vision requirements include near sightedness for reading documents and screen use.
- Clear hearing necessary for phone conversations and meeting note-taking.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform occasional standing, walking, bending, and other movements as needed.
- Work environment includes frequent interruptions.
Equipment
Utilizes standard office technology such as computers, telephones, fax machines, copiers, scanners, and printers.
