Role Overview

The HPE NonStop Engineer role involves comprehensive operational management, monitoring, and support of HPE NonStop NS X Series systems, alongside Base24 and BESS applications. This includes handling replication, backup, storage, and security operations to ensure system availability and compliance within production and disaster recovery environments. The engineer collaborates closely with application, data center, and security teams.

Main Responsibilities

• Deliver operational support to Base24 and BESS application users.
• Collaborate with data center teams to manage backup, restore, and scheduling activities.
• Develop, execute, and troubleshoot backup and restore scripts effectively.
• Administer and monitor GoldenGate and DRNet replication processes.
• Analyze daily and peak CPU usage and coordinate remediation with application teams.
• Manage HPE XP8 ESS storage, including allocation of external storage space.
• Operate and maintain BackBox for comprehensive system-wide backup and restore.
• Oversee the StoreOnce appliance and ensure its optimal performance.
• Conduct system health assessments daily using OSM tools for hardware diagnostics.
• Monitor system disk space and proactively notify application teams of concerns.
• Verify connectivity of EXPAND links between production and disaster recovery systems.
• Review EMS logs to identify and respond to abnormal or critical system messages.
• Continuously monitor systems via ViewPoint and WebViewPoint dashboards.
• Respond to incidents and problems raised by operations staff efficiently.
• Supervise database replication processes in Base24 and BESS environments.
• Troubleshoot DRNet EMS messages and resolve associated replication issues.
• Manage user access rights across NonStop systems maintaining security and compliance.
• Coordinate with enterprise security teams to ensure adherence to compliance standards such as MFA enforcement and SIEM integration.
• Execute monthly payroll system-related activities.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Proficiency with GoldenGate and DRNet replication solutions.
• Understanding of Base24 and BESS application frameworks.
• Experience operating HPE NonStop NS X Series systems.
• Familiarity with BackBox, VTC Backup, and StoreOnce storage technology.
• Competency with monitoring tools such as ViewPoint, WebViewPoint, and Splunk.
• Expertise in system performance analysis and resource utilization monitoring.
• Knowledge of HPE XP8 storage systems and SAN switch management.
• Experience using OSM tools to monitor hardware components.
• Capability with NonStop Software Essentials tools for system upgrades.
• Familiarity with security tools such as XYPRO XYGATE and SafeCom.
• Experience scheduling jobs using NetBatch, including backup, restore, and file management (PAK/UNPAK).
• Strong skills with NSK subsystems including TACL, SCF, SSHCOM, MEASURE, MEDIACOM, SPOOLCOM, PERUSE, BATCHCOM, EMS, and TMF.
